Following strip down and consideration of the ongoing repair to the generator at our contractors, much additional work has arisen. We were given two alternatives to repair faults on the commutator. The first being a Tig welded repair and the second complete replacement.

After weighing up all the options available it has been decided to perform the second option with long term interests at heart. We were advisd that the first may be OK but the commutator would not stand another overhaul due to it's much worn condition, hence it would be false economy.

This now means that the generator will not be completed until around March next year and it is with great regret that we have decided it is best to cancel the planned tour for March the 11th now. This will allow us and our contractors much more time to complete all repairs and allow time for test runs and a bit of preserved line running, which is felt necesary following
the time out of traffic and scale of work performed.
