Restoration Progress May 2005 - Report by Martin Walker

Visited BH this afternoon and can confirm work is progressing fine.

Fuel tanks have been removed.

Work continues on the body framework, this is done section by section to ensure the correct profile is maintained.

Pre-formed steelwork for both the outer and inner body skins has now all been delivered and installation of the lower sections of the inner skin has started.

Cab doors have been renovated and are now primed ready for refitting in due course.

Engine room pipework sections previously removed has been renovated and some sections will be replaced as they were badly corroded. Other sections of pipework relating to obsolete equipment have been removed permanently.

Equipment is now on site to allow the defective generator to be split from its engine for repair.

Basically everything is sound, there are lots of jobs that have been done to remove parts from the main structure prior to renovation all of which are time consuming but nevertheless important jobs.
