20th May- Royal Scots Grey News is now found here.

18th May- The replacement engine wasn't fitted today, so unfortuatnely Royal Scots Grey won't work at the ELR on Saturday 19th May..

17th May- Some new photos of the replacement engine are now in the recent collection of pictures.

15th May- With the engine due to be installed this week, the booking forms & tour information for the forthcoming railtours is now available here

As part of the ELR's 'Big Engine' weekend 55 022 is planned to work the following trains:-

Saturday:
13.55 Bury-Heywood, 14.25 Heywood-Rawtenstall, 15.40 Rawtenstall-Heywood, 16.50 Heywood-Ramsbottom and 17.55 Ramsbottom-Bury in tandem with 71000 'Duke & Gloucester'!!!

Sunday:
09.50 Bury-Rawtenstall, 10.40 Rawtenstall-Heywood, 11.55 Heywood-Rawtenstall and 13.10 Rawtenstall to Bury.

Hopefully 55 022 will have 2 engines installed. Look forward to seeing you there.

5th May- Some new photos are now in this collection of recent pictures. This contains shots of the Marine Engines too.

30th April- The running weekend at the East Lancashire Railway has been changed to 19th/20th May (was previous weekend 12th/13th May). This is due to the company perfoming the 'machining' on the new lower crankcase/engine mounting taking longer than they advised, we hope to have this final and essential part by the middle of this week.

25th April- The footplate experience day at the East Lancashire Railway scheduled for 5th November is already sold out. Thanks to all who have booked, further details can be found here. If you're interested in an enjoyable day with 55 022, please contact the ELR via the above web page. The more the merrier as these events provide income for the loco.

24th April- New Webmaster Kevin McCormick is now updating the site. Hope to have everything back up to date very soon.

28th February - Happy Birthday Royal Scots Grey. Today 55 022 sees her 46th Birthday, many happy returns.

February 21st 2007 - It is planned that 55 022 will now be joining the line up for the Severn Valley Railway’s diesel gala on Thursday 11th and Friday 12th October. Please note that plans may change, but these are correct at this time.

February 21st 2007 - 55 022 is planned to play a part in this years Railway Touring Company ‘Autumn Highlander’ Land cruise, despite the problem with 55 022’s engine on the outbound run last year it was still an highly enjoyable 4 days. Click here for more information.

February 21st 2007 - 55 022 completed it’s duties yesterday at the East Lancashire Railway ‘Footplate Experience Day’. Thanks to all at the ELR and particularly Malcolm Kirkwood as well as the 6 ‘happy drivers’ for the day. A comment from a participant can be seen here.

February 21st 2007 - North Yorkshire Moors Gala, 21st and 22nd April, it is planned to use 55 022 on the mainline Whitby to Glaisdale section on both days. The loco may also see other use throughout the 3 day event.

February 12th 2007 - RSG is running at the East Lancs Railway for the English Electric Day on 17th February, a footplate experience day on 19th February and the Home Fleet / Nightrider event on 17th / 18th March. A couple of photos from this day can be found here.

The repair of the damaged engine is progressing soundly latest photos here. Thanks to all who have helped.

September 23rd 2006 - Royal Scots Grey enjoys her first railtour since her recent renovation, a fantastic day for all concerned! Thanks to SRPS railtour and West Coast Railway Company in addition to all who helped us on the day and all who travelled. Click for photos of the event.

September 9th - 10th 2006 - Work has continued on Royal Scots Grey following her arrival and first weekend of operation at the ELR. This has involved further cleaning, rectification of electrical faults and insulation of silencer drain hoses, etc. Many thanks to: Owen Nayler, Brian Nayler, Andy Jones, Steve Morton, Tony Tock, Roger Radcliffe, Dave Peacock, Colin Redfearn, Tim Baker, Alan Lee, Chris Short, Andy Hardman, Pete Stojanovic.

Steve Morton has kindly agreed to act as caretaker for Royal Scots Grey during the time at Bury and will liase basic maintenance and cleaning with others involved. We are very grateful to Steve and all at the ELR for their assistance.

September 1st - 3rd 2006 - Following the arrival of Royal Scots Grey at the East Lancashire Railway early yesterday afternoon and the repair to a seriously defective load regulator oil hose, the loco worked its first service train at the East Lancashire Railway with the 09.45 Bury to Heywood service and following which it completed all its booked workings over the weekend without any problems and alsopushed the failed 56 003 from Rawtenstall to Bury. The next booked workings for 55 022 will be on October 14th when it is scheduled to work the regular Diesel diagram. See East Lancashire Railway's diesel group website for further details.

31st August 2006 - 55 022 left Barrow Hill at 10.25 on its light engine run to her new home at the East Lancashire Railway, travelling via Rotherham, Wakefield Kirkgate and the Calder Valley line. Thanks to West Coast Railways for their assistance. Click here for photos.

29th August 2006 - Mainline test run was undertaken which was successful and resulted in 55 022 obtaining its mainline certification.Speeds of over 100 mph were attained in both directions. The test ran from Barrow Hill at approximately 12.00, heading North via Rotherham and Moorethorpe to York. After detatching 55 002 & 47 703 at Holgate sidings, 55 022 continued North up the East Coast Mainline to Heaton depot followed by 47 703 as standby. After running round at Heaton, Royal Scots Grey headed back South to York where 47 703 was attached to the rear of the train which then returned to Barrow Hill via Doncaster.
